Troubleshooting Common Digital Signage Issues

We’ve designed DatabeatOMNI to be as straightforward and reliable as possible, but – it’s an unfortunate fact of life – even the most robust tech has off days.

But there's no need to panic, this blogpost will discuss some of the most common issues you may face and offer advice on how to solve them.

My Screen is On, But Where’s My Content?

If your digital display is powered on but isn’t showing your content, there are a few things you can do to fix it.

First, it may be the case that the DatabeatOMNI application has failed to load on your device. Simply turn your Samsung SSP screen off and on again or unplug the power cord. If this was the issue, your device should reboot and DatabeatOMNI will start up automatically.

If you’ve tried this and can see that the application is loading, but still not displaying your content, check that the content was uploaded to the right channel, with the right timings. To do this, access DatabeatOMNI from any computer and select the “Publish” tab. Ensure your “release” and “expire” dates and times are set correctly.

My Screen is Displaying Content That Has Been Set to Expire

If you find that your digital signage is displaying content that should have expired, chances are, your smart displays or media players are having trouble connecting to the internet. The best way to test this is to try and access the same network from your smartphone or laptop. Once connected, load a web page to double-check the internet is working. If the web page won’t load, it’s best to contact your internet service provider.

If the internet is live but the content still hasn’t updated, check that you’ve published your new content to the right channel.

My Files Won’t Upload

If you're struggling to upload files to your displays, ensure your content is in the right file format. We recommend the following formats:

  • .JPEG
  • .PNG
  • .MP4
  • .WMV

You can also upload PDF files, but we only recommend this if no other format is available. For more information on uploading content with DatabeatOMNI, check out our guide.

My Displays Aren’t Looking Their Best

If your content isn’t looking as sharp and colourful as it once did, your displays may need repairing or replacing. All modern displays degrade over time, and this degradation can often be exacerbated when your display is mounted outside in changing weather conditions and temperatures. We recommend investing in a suitable, tough casing for your digital signage to extend its lifespan.
